Mechanical watches

A mechanical watch is a type of watch that does not use a battery, but a winding spring. This winding spring stores energy and transfers it via a series of gears and springs. In this way, the watch is supplied with energy. But where exactly does this energy come from when there is no battery inside the watch? This can happen in two ways: energy can be generated by wearing the watch, or by twisting the crown. Ideal because you never have to worry about an empty battery again.

The average selling price of a mechanical watch is higher than the selling price of, for example, a quartz watch. This is because a lot of craftsmanship and technical knowledge is involved in the assembly of a mechanical watch. A mechanical watch consists of all kinds of small gears and parts, which must be perfectly connected to each other. This makes the process time consuming and labour intensive. However, this type of watch is often seen as an investment for the future and in some cases even a nice heirloom.
