Watch trends for spring and summer 2025

Posted 7 April 2025 by Miriam Reading time approximately 3 minutes

What are the watch trends for spring and summer 2025? We returned from the major watch fair Inhorgenta in Munich full of inspiration, where we saw a return to classic watches, with an emphasis on brand heritage, cheerful summer colours, ‘petite’ ladies’ watches, and much more.

Trends in men’s watches

‘Heritage’ watches and automatics

The vintage retro trend of the past seasons is not over yet, and this spring mainly takes the form of a return to the brands’ own history. ‘Brand heritage’ is being celebrated with re-issues and reinterpretations. Automatic watches and classic hand-wound watches in particular are growing in popularity.

More (Swiss) solar watches and attention to reuse

Where solar watches used to be mainly made by Japanese manufacturers, now Swiss brands are also changing their production process. Take for example the new Tissot PRC100 series where the solar cells are not – as usual – incorporated in the dial, but in the glass!

Solar watches are a lot more sustainable than quartz and there is also increasing attention for sustainability in the field of material use. More and more use is being made of recycled steel and plastics made from organic materials.

Field watches and outdoor watches

It is speculation on our part, but could it be that the renewed attention for the army and NATO has also led to more interest in military watches and outdoor watches? The classic field watch in particular is making a real comeback. In addition, modern outdoor watches with high water resistance and extensive functions are also particularly popular.

Octagonal models

When a child draws a clock, it is usually round, as are most watches. However, watches with a shape other than round, such as turtle watches and rectangular watches, are very popular these days. This season, we see a lot of watches with an octagonal case in the new collections.

Ladies watch trends

Soft colours and the return of gold

Spring is here, and as usual we see this reflected in the colour palette of the ladies watch collections. Lots of soft colours; Light blue, soft green, sand tones and pink are always popular at this time of year.

What is also striking is that after the great popularity of rose gold, we are now seeing many more gold and two-tone gold-silver watches again.

Square watches and wraparound bracelets

In recent seasons we have seen a movement towards more rectangular watches and this season we will see the addition of square watches. However, the corners of these are rounded, which gives the shape a more feminine look.

These watches also often have a metal (!) wrap bracelet. No surprise, since we are seeing more and more watches with a metal bracelet instead of a leather strap this season.

(Extremely) small ladies watches

Another trend that is continuing: the size of watches is getting smaller. For women's watches, this sometimes means extremely small, down to 13 mm!
