History

Even though the name Frédérique Constant sounds like a timeworn Swiss company, it was established in 1988. Two Dutch people called Peter and Aletta Stas began the company because they believed it should be possible to make classic Swiss-made watches at an affordable price.
The name Frédérique Constant derives from a combination of the grandparents of Peter and Aletta: Frédérique Schreiner and Constant Stas. The location of the factory could only be in one place. Not only was it in Switzerland but it was in the hometown of Swiss luxury: Plan-Les-Ouates, Geneva.
Nowadays we can state that Frédérique Constant has conquered its position in the world of luxury watches by giving affordable prices on watches with extravagant beauty. One of the key strategy points of Frédérique Constant is it has developed independence from third parties. They currently build 21 various types of movements in-house, which is exceptional in the watch industry.

The mission

Making Swiss Luxury affordable to everyone is the mission of Frédérique Constant. They plan to do this by keeping as much of the production in their hands as possible. By doing this, they have good control over the whole production of the watch. All of the watches are still hand assembled in the factory in Plan-Les-Ouates, Geneva by their skilled watch makers.

The collection

The collection from Frédérique Constant begins with a solid foundation of quartz watches, followed by a vast collection of automatic watches and a growing line of manufacture watches with in-house produced movements and not to overlook the Horological Smartwatch. Frédérique Constant was the very first Luxury brand to introduce the smartwatch into their collection.

The collection has been divided into these lines:

Classics: A collection of quartz and automatic watches with a traditional look and feel.
Slimline: A line of ultra-thin vintage watches with excellent wear comfort.
Vintage rally: Watches inspired by vintage luxury cars and boats.
Horological Smartwatch: The modern "classic" Smartwatch.
Ladies Automatic: A collection of automatic watches for fashionable ladies.
Runabout: Sporty classic chronographs for him
Manufacture: Frédérique Constant Manufacture watches are all in-house designed, produced and assembled.
